Ezekiel 28 and meaning

Today in Tu Biblia Online we bring you a new verse about Ezekiel. A few days ago we shared with you Ezekiel 34 with which we continued with this series of articles on the verses of Ezekiel, if you like it, Ezekiel 28 will be to your liking. Let’s enjoy the reading and let ourselves be carried away by the peace and gratitude that he transmitted to us through his exploits.

Ezekiel 28 explained

Ezekiel prophesied against Tyre. The main sin of the king of Tyre was pride, since he believed himself to be a God. Because of his wisdom and wealth, the king was considered a divine being.

He was warned that he was not behaving as he should and that he was promising and acting badly before his people.

By failing to comply and mistreating the people, they would reveal themselves and see that Tyre was indeed no God and was only conceited.

In a very graphic and clear way , values are magnified that are not in accordance with what God and Christianity want to transmit.

Some think that the king of Tyre may actually be a representation or envoy of Satan himself. For our part, we do not want to spend too much time talking about these issues, which may only provoke doubts and impure thoughts. For this reason, we leave you with a video that reflects on whether Ezekiel 28 really refers to Satan. See it and find out if it’s true!

Ezekiel 28 bible complete

Ezekiel 28 - NKJV (Audio Bible & Text)

28 The word of Jehovah came to me, saying:

2 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyre, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart was lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a god, I sit upon the throne of God in the midst of the seas, (thou being a man, and not God,) and hast set thine heart as the heart of God;

3 Behold, thou art wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that is hidden from thee.

4 By your wisdom and by your prudence you have accumulated riches, and you have acquired gold and silver in your treasures.

5 By the greatness of your wisdom in your dealings you have multiplied your riches; and by reason of your riches your heart has been lifted up.

6 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God,

7 Therefore, behold, I will bring strangers upon thee, the mighty men of the nations, who shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and shall defile thy splendor.

8 They shall bring you down to the grave, and you shall die the death of those who die in the midst of the seas.

9 Wilt thou speak before him that killeth thee, saying, I am God? Thou art man, and not God, in the hand of thy slayer.

10 Thou shalt die the death of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.

11 The word of Jehovah came to me, saying:

12 Son of man, take up a lamentation against the king of Tyre, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou wast the seal of perfection, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.

13 In Eden, in the garden of God, you were in the garden of God; of every precious stone was your clothing; the cornerine, topaz, jasper, chrysolite, beryl, and onyx; of sapphire, carbuncle, emerald, and gold; the primitives of your tambourines and flutes were prepared for you in the day of your creation.

14 You, great cherub, protector, I set you on the holy mountain of God, there you stood; in the midst of the stones of fire you walked.

15 You were perfect in all your ways from the day you were created, until iniquity was found in you.

16 Because of the multitude of thy trespasses thou wast filled with iniquity, and hast sinned: therefore I have cast thee from the mountain of God, and cast thee from the midst of the stones of the fire, O covering cherub.

17 Thine heart is lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy splendor; I will cast thee down to the ground; I will set thee before kings, that they may look upon thee.

18 By the multitude of thine iniquities and by the iniquity of thy trespasses thou hast profaned thy sanctuary: therefore I have brought forth fire from the midst of thee, and it hath devoured thee, and I have made thee ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.

19 All who have known you among the peoples will marvel at you; you will be a terror, and you will cease to be forever.

Prophecy against Sidon

20 The word of Jehovah came to me, saying:

21 Son of man, set your face toward Sidon, and prophesy against it,

22 And thou shalt say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Zidon, and in the midst of thee will I be glorified: and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall execute judgments in her, and sanctify myself in her.

23 I will send pestilence and blood into her streets, and the slain shall fall in the midst of her, with the sword against her on every side; and they shall know that I am the LORD.

24 And the house of Israel shall be no more a thorn in the flesh, nor a sting to make it sore, in the midst of all them that compass it about and despise it; and they shall know that I am the LORD.

25 Thus saith the Lord GOD; When I shall gather the house of Israel from the people among whom they are scattered, then will I sanctify myself in them in the sight of the heathen, and they shall dwell in their land, which I gave unto Jacob my servant.

26 And they shall dwell therein safely, and build houses, and plant vineyards, and live securely, when I shall execute judgments on all them that spoil them round about them; and they shall know that I am the LORD their God.

Ezekiel 28 in current language

Message against the king of Tyre

28 God also said to me:

2 “You, Ezekiel, tell the king of Tyre for me:

“You are too proud.

You even think you are a god

because you reign in the middle of the sea.

But don’t think you’re so wise,

because you are but a man.

3

You are no wiser than the prophet Daniel,

nor do you know all the secrets,

4

but you are certainly very smart:

you have succeeded in amassing gold and silver,

and you have become very rich.

5

You know how to do business.

That’s why you have become rich

and you have been filled with pride.

6-8

“As you feel very wise,

and you even think you are a god,

I will throw against you

cruel people from other countries.

These people will attack you

and will wage war against you.

It will destroy your beauty,

with your wisdom and your greatness.

He will violently take your life,

and you will die at the bottom of the sea.

I swear I will.

9

“When you confront them,

you will stop believing you are a god.

When your life is taken from you,

you will look like a simple man.

10

Strange people will take your life,

and you will die as they die

those who do not know me.

I am the God of Israel,

and I will keep my word.”

Lament for the king of Tyre

11 God also said to me:

12 “Ezekiel, intone a funeral dirge for the king of Tyre. Tell him the following for me:

“You, king of Tyre,

you were perfect in everything;

your wisdom and your beauty

were unparalleled.

13

You lived in the garden of Eden,

and adorned yourself with precious stones.

Your jewelry and earrings

were made of gold,

and from the day of your birth

were at your disposal.

14

An angel protected you,

while stepping on stones of fire

on the mountain chosen by God.

15

“From the day you were born

you had been good,

but one day you showed your wickedness.

16

In the many businesses you did,

you became very violent.

That’s why I threw you off my mountain.

The angel who protected you

kept you away from the stones of fire!

17

“So singular was your beauty

that you became very proud.

Your pride and your beauty

they made you lose your mind!

That’s why I threw you to the ground

and in the presence of kings

I made a fool of you.

18-19

There were so many of your sins,

and so dirty your business

that you did not even respect your temples!

“That’s why I made from within you

a fire will break out and burn you.

The nations that knew you,

and who used to admire you,

today they are impressed

seeing you on the ground,

already turned to ashes.

You are a cause for fear

because you have ceased to exist!””

Message against the city of Sidon

20 God also said to me:

21-22 “Ezekiel, confront the city of Sidon and tell it the following from me:

“I will turn against you.

When I give you what you deserve,

people will recognize my greatness.

He shall know that I am the God of Israel,

and that I am different from other gods.

23

“I will send plagues against you;

I will make your enemies

attack you from all sides.

Blood will run through your streets,

and people will die by the sword.

Thus they will recognize that I am God.

24

“The Israelites shall not return

to suffer the contempt of their neighbors,

that hurts and hurts them so much.

Then they will recognize that I am God.

25 “Therefore I, the God of Israel, affirm:

“Now the Israelites live as prisoners among the nations, but I will gather them again and bring them back to their land. I promised to give it to Jacob, his ancestor, for he was always at my service. 26 There they will be able to live in safety. They will return to building houses and planting vineyards.

“Now their neighbors despise them, but I will give them the punishment they deserve. Then the Israelites and the other nations will realize that I am different, and they will recognize me as the God of Israel.””

Conclusion of Ezekiel 28 of the Bible

Reading Ezekiel 28 we can draw the following conclusions, on the one hand, that it is prideful to proclaim or believe oneself to be equal or superior to God our Lord. On the other, that for behaviors that do not belong to us we will be punished and sunk.

It is our duty to be humble and preach the word of the Lord without ever considering ourselves superior to him. By carefully reading this story you will surely have correctly interpreted how God will always be on our side if we do not do bad deeds and help the underprivileged.

And now, with this small conclusion we want to end today’s article, we do not want to say goodbye without recommending that if you liked the reading visit us in future articles! Goodbye, and God bless you.
