Many, many years ago, all men spoke the same language. They had no communication problems and everyone understood each other. Until one day, a group of ambitious people from the East, decided to start creating your own kingdom in a large esplanade. Someone said:
- We need to build an imposing edifice that will alert others to our power. We will be more powerful than God himself!
- We will build a building that touches the sky that touches the clouds,” said another.
And so it was that little by little, they decided to build the Tower of Babel.
While, God contemplated the enormous tower that those men were beginning to build:
- I asked them to be humble and now they want to impose their power on each other. They only build this tower because they want to become the most powerful in the world. We will see how they manage if they don’t speak the same language.
So it was that God changed the language of the men who were building the tower. They began to confuse each other and finally chaos ensued. Desperate, the men abandoned the construction and each one settled in a different place.
And that is that’s why all men speak different languages and how that tower took the name of Tower of Babel, since Babel means confusion.

- Israelites, let the bravest warrior come to fight against me. If he succeeds in defeating me, we will be your slaves, but if he loses, you will be.
Forty days passed and none of the citizens of Israel were brave enough to take the to fight the giant. Until one day, after talking with his brothers, David said:
- If no one does, I will go.
David’s brothers, hearing this, wanted to stop his display of bravery. So did King Saul, who warned David:
- Young David, you must not fight Goliath. You are small and young, and Goliath is a huge, experienced warrior.
- I am small but I am brave,” said David. I killed a bear and a lion that took away my father’s sheep and I will defeat Goliath with God’s help.
David succeeded in convincing King Saul and before turning to Goliath, he took five stones from a river and put them in his haversack:
- Goliath, I accept the challenge. I will fight for my people.
Goliath could not believe that the king would let a young, little shepherd boy fight against him. But finally, accepted David’s proposal:
- I’ll be done with you in the blink of an eye.
- You have a sword, a spear and a javelin, but I have something more powerful than any weapon: I come in the name of God and with his help I will defeat you.
Then, David took up a stone and hurled it at Goliath. The stone impacted on Goliath’s head with such force that it knocked him to the ground, and he fell defeated.

– Sir, she and I live in the same house. A few days ago I gave birth to a baby boy and a few days later his son was born. We live alone and no one visits us. One night her son died because she lay on top of him and while I was resting she exchanged my living son for her dead son. The next day I realized that this was not my son.
The other woman interrupted, saying she was lying, that it was her son who was alive and his son who was dead. The women started arguing loudly until the King Solomon took the floor:
– Split the child in two and keep one half each.
At that moment, the child’s real mother cried out in tears:
– No, please don’t kill him! Give the child to her.
On the contrary, the other woman said:
– The fairest thing is for us to have half each, split it.
In this astute way, King Solomon was able to know who was who the real mother was and delivered the child before he was killed. Solomon’s intelligence proved to be superior to the lying mother, for a mother is capable of giving up her child and doing anything to protect him.
